Kundapur, Jan 30: Police in Byndoor received a message on Monday January 30 that a bomb had been planted in Badakere near Navunda and another had already exploded there. The news spread like wildfire within minutes. Though the police came to know that it was a hoax call as they reached there, the incident had created enough fear in people's mind.
A festival fair was in progress in Laxmi Janardhan temple at Badakere for the last four days. Fireworks display was also going on. The women in the neighborhood had gathered the waste and they set fire to it with the other thrash. Explosion was heard in it then. Five tube lights nearby were damaged in the impact. The noise could be heard till a distance of ten kilometers, said locals. The women fled from the spot soon after the explosion.
As the news spread, Byndoor police and fire brigade personnel arrived and collected information. They came to know that it was not real bomb. Some miscreants had kept gun powder in a round shaped ice cream ball in the thrash.
Investigation is in progress. On the whole the incident has shook Kundapur taluk.
