Bengaluru, Jan 15: An incident in which an angry woman kicked and killed a baby, having been frustrated by its incessant wailing, has been reported with delay from Neelasandra here. The woman in question, identified as Kasturi Bai alias Geeta (42) has been arrested by the police of Ashoknagar station here.

As per sources, the incident happened at M G Garden on January 9 in which a two-year-old male child, Vijay, died in lying position after having been allegedly kicked by Geeta with great force. The baby had been taken to the hospital. The truth came out only after the doctors insisted in conducting postmortem, it is learnt.

The child belongs to Armugam and Sharada couple from M G Garden, who work on daily wage basis. Vijay was the last of the three children of the couple. On January 9, the couple had taken their seven-year-old son with them when going for work. Their five-year-old son was working in a screen printing press nearby. He had taken his baby brother, Vijay, to the house of Kasturi, who works in the same printing press.

Kasturi asked the boy to fetch milk, and the boy went out to bring it, leaving behind his baby brother under the care of Kasturi. Vijay reportedly was crying non-stop then. Kasturi, it is said, lost her patience at his non-stop wailing and allegedly kicked Vijay hard, apart from hitting him with a sickle. After the boy brought milk, she asked him to take Vijay away. Vijay, who was taken home and put on the bed, never got up. The parents, who returned home after work in the evening, took the toddler to St Philomena Hospital where the doctors said he had already died. After finding injury marks on the body of the baby, the doctors asked the parents to opt for postmortem, it is said.

Mother cannot do this kind of act. When it comes to sibling's, she never expects a situation of harming her children. If somebody else would have done this to her baby, definitely she will be intolerant. We need to also analyze the kind of situation she must be experiencing in her household on day to day life that had aggravated for taking such inadvertent step. Let every home be peaceful and manageable despite of indifferences between parents and siblings.
