Rio de Janeiro, Jan 14 (IANS): Flamengo have announced the signing of former Brazil international midfielder Romulo in a four-year deal.
The 26-year-old will join his new team-mates in Rio de Janeiro next week after Russian football club Spartak Moscow agreed to terminate his contract, which still had six months to run, reports Xinhua news agency.
"I want to thank Flamengo for the effort they made to sign me," Romulo said in an Instagram post on Friday.
"I'm very motivated to fight for titles and try to win back my place in the national team."
Flamengo did not reveal financial details in a statement confirming the move on social media,
Romulo was considered one of Brazil's most promising central midfielders before being struck down by a serious knee injury in 2012.
He has been capped eight times for Brazil and was part of the team that claimed the silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic football tournament.
Flamengo have also signed Peruvian left-back Miguel Trauco and Argentinian playmaker Conca in the past month.
