Goa: Jet Airways plane with 161 on-board veers off runway, all passengers evacuated

Panaji, Dec 27 (Agencies): Jet Airways flight 9W 2374 veered off the runway at Dabolim airport in Goa while aligning for takeoff. A total of 161 people, including seven crew members, were on-board the plane.

The flight was scheduled to travel from Goa to Mumbai.

As per ANI report, all passengers have been safely evacuated with some having suffered minor injuries during the process. “All guests and crew have been safely evacuated. Few guests have sustained injuries during the evacuation process,” Jet Airways said in a statement.

The Jet Airways team and airport authorities are providing medical assistance to those injured in the incident. The reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Dabolim airport has been closed down for operations till 12:30 pm.

    Good to know that nothing has happened to any passengers except minor injuries.Hope,the things will be sorted out once the reason is known for the incident.

    If such type of accident would happen at mangalore today it would certainly be a disaster because of it being a tabletop runway. There is a little room for margin of error over there. every time as the plane begins its approach to land i think to myself... so this is how i die.. good bye life..

    But i want to ask what happened to the measures that were promised to make the runway safe?

    People have such a short memory and the politicians know it.

    The Pilot should be medically check whether he had alcholic as there are bar within radious of 200 meters from the Airport.The supreme court should now banned alcholic shops from 1000 meters around airports.
