Mangaluru, Dec 21: Addressing the College Day 2016 gathering on December 17 at the St Aloysius PU College pretorium, chief guest Dr Rajashekar M recollected the memories of his times at the college and advised the students to be the change that they want to find in the world as they are the future of our nation.
In his address, the guest of honour Allen C Periera described the college as a miniature India in its diversity and urged the students not to go where the others go but to blaze a trail. The rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ expressed that St Aloysius stands atop the Idgah Hill, a lighthouse to the city upholding its tradition of character formation, knowledge development and social concern.
The college paid tribute to St Theresa of Kolkata as it dazzled white and blue on the evening of College Day with its theme 'In sharing, we care'. The guests were welcomed and the programme inaugurated in a unique way with the unveiling and signing of a painting created by the students by the dignitaries.
The principal Fr Melwin Mendonca introduced the video presentation of the college report. The vice principal Rekha K Alva conducted the prize distribution in which the meritorious sports achievers and other prize winners were felicitated. The convener Muralikrishna, HOD of chemistry welcomed the gathering while the student council president Shreyash Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. Also present on the dais were the finance officer Fr John Lang Bosco SJ, the PTE vice president Seema Shenoy, the student council secretary Sonal D’Souza and joint secretary Sonal D’Souza. The magnificent cultural display that followed the formal programme left the onlookers breathless.
