Budapest, Dec 12 (IANS): China and Russia clinched gold medals at the 2016 Wrestling World Championships here for weight categories not contested at the Rio Olympic Games.
Pei Xingru of China was victorious in the women's 60 kilogram contest, beating second place finisher Allison Mackenzie Ragan of the United States 6-0. Bronze medals went to Linda Morais of Canada and Emese Barka of Hungary on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
The 18-year-old Pei became China's first world champion since 2013. She was third in the 2016 Junior World Championships and second in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
Magomed Kurbanaliev of Russia won the 70 kilogram freestyle event over second place finisher Nurlan Bekzhanov of Kazakhstan by 10-4. Bronze medals went to Mostafa Mohabbali Hosseinkhani of Iran and Elaman Dogdurbek UUlu of Kyrgyzstan.
Ramazan Abacharaev of Russia defeated silver medalist Aslan Atem of Turkey 3-1 in the 80 kilogram Greco-Roman meet. Laszlo Szabo of Hungary and Jonibek Otabekov of Uzbekistan were awarded bronze.
The women's 55 kilogram, men's 61 kilogram freestyle and 71 kilogram Greco-Roman contests were fought on Saturday.
A total of 142 wrestlers from more than 40 coutries and regions attended the championships.
