Beltangady, Nov 22: The annual feature of Dharmasthala, 'Lakshadeepotsava' is eagerly awaited by people because of variety of programmes being held as part of this event in addition to the usual grandeur and devotion associated with it. During the period of Lakshadeepotsava being organized between November 24 and 29, an all religious meet (Sarvadharma Sammelan) is being held on November 27, while November 28 has been earmarked for holding the literary meet (Sahitya Sammelan).
On the first day of Lakshadeepotsava, thousands of people who will congregate at Ujire, will undertake the journey to Dharmasthala by foot. This procession will begin from near Lord Janardhana temple at Ujire.
A state level exhibition is also being simultaneously held at the premises of SDM High School at Dharmasthala from November 24 to 29. This exhibition will be open from 9 am to 9 pm, and admission is free. Variety entertainment programmes will also be organized. Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president, Meenakshi Shantigodu, will inaugurate the exhibition. Dr D Veerendra Heggade will preside over the inaugural function.
On November 26, fine arts session will be organized. On this occasion, variety music, dance drama etc and also 'Laya Lalvanya' programme being presented by Anur Anantakrishna Sharma will be organized. The Sarvadharma Sammelan will be inaugurated at 5 pm on November 27 by retired judge of the Supreme Court, Justice V Gopal Gowda. Srimanmaharaja Niranjana Sri Jagadguru Fakeera Siddarama Swamiji of Jagadguru Fakeereshwara Samsthan, Shirahatti, will preside.
Head of Prakrita department of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit Vidyapeeth New Delhi, Dr Jayakumar Upadhye, Yakshagana artiste from Puttur, Jabbar Samo Sampaje, and director of Vidyaniketan Dharwad, Fr Prashant D'Souza, will be delivering religious lectures. Gayatri Girish from Chennai and her team will present a classical music programme.
Sahitya Sammelan being held on November 28 will be inaugurated by president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Manu Baligar. Well-known writer from Bengaluru, M N Vyasa Rao, will preside. Vasudhendra Bengaluru, Dr Veena Sullia and editor of Vijayavani Kannada daily, Hariprakash Konemane from Bengaluru will deliver lectures.
'Geet Govind' dance performance by movie star, Shobhana and her team of artistes, is slated to be presented on the occasion.
The programmes connected with Lakshadeepotswava will end with the offering of 'Samavasarana Puja' at Bhagawan Chandranatha Swamy on November 29.
