Bantwal, Oct 25: Vittal station police have arrested two main suspects at Mani junction on Monday, October 24 who caused the death of a cow in Chellangaru hill, Karopadi village in the taluk by keeping explosives for hunting wild animals.
The suspects are identified as Doomadka Pelathaje resident Sheenappa Naika(48) and Hassan Halooru resident Vinod Shetty(30).
Vijay John and Govinda Naika are other two suspects who have already been arrested.
The four suspects were reportedly using explosives to kill wild animals for flesh. They were reportedly keeping explosives in the night and removing them in the morning.
Chellangaru resident Govinda Naika who was arrested on the basis of complaint by the owner of the cow, Chellangaru resident Radhakrishna Moolya when questioned, had confessed that Sheenappa Naika was preparing explosives and keeping them in the hill. Hassan Halooru resident Vinod Shetty was helping him and Vijay John was bringing them in his auto rickshaw.
Sheenappa used to mix gun powder and fireworks capsule, tie them with flesh, keep it in the hill at night and hunt wild pig. Two wild pigs are killed during last six months with explosives. Sheenappa said that the cow touched the explosives this time.
Vittal police sub inspector Koragappa Naika, Ananda Poojary, staff Jayakumar, Balakrishna, Pravin Rai and Ramesh arrested the suspects.
