Udupi, Oct 23: Dalita Damanitara Swabhimana Horata Samiti, the organisers of ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ on Sunday October 23, submitted a petition to superintendent of police (SP) K T Balakrishna and said strict action should be taken against Yuva Brigade, the organisers of ‘Kanaka Nade’
A team led by Shyamraj Birthi, Jayan Malpe and Sundar Master met SP and said that ‘Kanaka Nade’ programme defied the order of the district administration which had clearly said that ‘Kanaka Nade’ cannot be held outside the Math premises.
Shyamraj Birthi said “They conducted ‘Kanaka Nade’ in parking slot, Rajangana and some other places which are not part of the Math premises. So strict action should be taken against them for going against the order of deputy commissioner (DC). It also should be noted that cleaning drive was against Dalits.”
SP promised them that he would look into the matter. He said every movement of the ‘Kanaka Nade’ was video recorded and the police will analyze the recordings.
Dalita Damanitara Swabhimana Horata Samiti will also meet the DC on Monday, the members revealed.
Birthi also said that Vishweshateertha Swamiji was not right to inaugurate Kanaka Nade as it was anti-dalit movement.
‘Kanaka Nade’ and ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ two opposite programmes were scheduled for Sunday, October 23. The district administration had denied permissions for both. While ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ organisers postponed their programme, ‘Kanaka Nade’ programme was held with modifications in the places of the drive.
