Udupi, Oct 21: In connection with the suicide committed by Chaitra from Puttur village near here on September 28 this year, the police have filed second first information report (FIR) under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Earlier, suicide committed by Chaitra, daughter of Chandrashekhar from Lingotigudde in Puttur village here by jumping into the river from K G Road bridge near Uppoor had been registered as a case of suicide.
District superintendent of police, K T Balakrishna, clarified that there is no external intervention in the case. He added that case under POCSO Act was registered after verifying the documents and confirming that Chaitra was a minor. He said that the accused persons named in the report have absconded and that two police teams have been formed to nab them.
As per the complaint filed by father of the victim, case under abetting suicide under section 363, 306 and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered against Adarsh, Pavan, and Sagar in the town police station here. Later, mother of the girl, Jyoti, had provided birth certificate of Jyoti to prove that she was 17 years and ten months old when she died.
Police said that on the basis of this, case under POCSO Act was registered in the town police station here, and that the police sub-inspector of the station had filed report thereof in the court.
