Berlin, Oct 3 (IANS): Werder Bremen's interim coach Alexander Nouri has been promoted as the German football club's head coach until the end of the season.
The former Under-23 coach, who took the reins after the departure of Viktor Skripnik on September 18, remains in charge until the season 2016-2017 after reaping four points from two encounters, Bremen confirmed in an official statement on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
"Alexander Nouri has shown in recent weeks that he can work with the team," Bremen CEO Frank Baumann said.
"We came to the conclusion that he should get the chance to continue the work he began."
Bremen sit on the 15th place of the standings after earning four points from six rounds. They clash with Bayer Leverkusen at the seventh round on October 15.
"This is a big challenge but we will succeed together," Nouri said. "We have a good team, a motivated coaching staff and an excellent environment. I am looking forward to the task."
