AHMEDABAD, Dec 22: Just 36 hours before the votes cast in the Gujarat assembly elections were to be counted, Narendra Modi finally hit back at his predecessor and rival power centre within the state BJP, Keshubhai Patel.
Keshubhai and three of his close associates, all of whom are MPs, have been targeted for disciplinary action. The BJP’s central leadership served show-cause notices to Keshubhai as well as senior leader Kashiram Rana.
It suspended Vallabhbhai Kathiria and Somabhai Patel from the party for six years for breaching the party’s code of conduct.
Hours after the notices were served, the dissident camp revived talks of floating a new Hindutva party
in Gujarat.
