Mangaluru, Jul 11: Condemning the suicide of DySP Ganapathi M K and the political interference from the administration as well as the harassment meted out to a sincere officer, the BJP Mahila Morcha district unit staged a protest against the state government on Monday July 11.
The BJP state leader, Sulochana G K Bhat addressing the protest said, "After the Congress government came to power senior officers like D K Ravi, Kallappa Handibag, DySP M K Ganapathi committed suicide. IAS women officers like Tulasi Maddineni, Hebshibarani, Rashmi Mahesh, Shika and DySP Anupama Shenoy were harassed and transferred for their commitment towards work and for not showing favor towards corrupt politicians and officers. Naveen Joseph, a sincere tahsildar was transferred as he did not favour Marrigowda, a close associate of the CM. The CM has to answer how many more officers would want to commit suicide? Though M K Ganapathi's wife filed a complaint against the minister and senior officers no FIR has been made," she said.
Bhat also slammed the CM's advisor Kempaiah saying, "Senior IPS officers cannot work because of Kempaiah's interference in the administration. Even senior politicians like B Janardhana Poojary regret CM Siddaramaiah's administration in the state. Hand over the case to the CBI. Several cases have been lying with the CID which have not reached any conclusive end.
She also demanded the dismissal of state minister K J George from the cabinet.
Corporator Roopa D Banger, speaking at the protest said, "CM Siddaramaiah's administration in the state has completely deteriorated. For a citizen to lead a peaceful life and to have a good standard of living there should be a proper law and order system. The government protects corrupt officials and harasses the sincere officers. She also alleged that the MLAs and the district in-charge minister are silent."
Former MLA Mallika Prasad Bhandary also spoke at the meet.
ZP president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, vice president Kasthuri Panja, BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandur, Umanath Kotian and others were present.
