Bengaluru: Officials to face action if they hide dengue cases

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Health and social welfare minister K R Ramesh has informed that the government officials who hide the dengue cases will be prosecuted.

The minister said that as more cases of dengue and chikungunya were detected in the recent weeks, all the taluk and district health officials in the state have been told to take measures to stop and contain the deadly diseases.

The minister said that if the health officers hide the cases it is not possible to take necessary measures for the government at all. “We will take action against officials who do not cooperate in this regard.” the minister warned.

2021 dengue cases have been reported in the state in the recent past of which Udupi district tops the list with 319 cases and a death. 175 cases have been reported from Dakshina Kannada district where one death has taken place.

In addition to dengue, 493 chikungunya cases have been reported in the state.
