Mysuru, Jul 10: In an incident which occurred within the limits of Metagalli police station here, a man murdered his wife by offering her drink mixed with poison.

Sundari (25), wife of Madhu, resident of Lokanayaka Nagar here, was the victim of this incident. Madhu went missing after this murder.

Sundari from Gumbarahalli in Varuna revenue division had married Madhu, resident of Bookanakere in K R Pet taluk in the district four years back. Both the husband and wife were involved with masonry work and stayed at Lokanayaka Nagar here. Misunderstanding had cropped up between the two as the couple did not have any children even after four years of marriage, and two often fought with each other.

Madhu usually came home drunk in the evening and tortured Sundari. In the recent past he also had begun pestering her to bring additional dowry. Sundari, whose parents are also poor, dithered from demanding money from her parents. Madhu was angry at her hesitation on this issue. On the night of Thursday July 9, he gave her cold drink, duly adding poison to it.

A case about the murder was registered at Matagalli police station on Friday.
