Mangaluru, Jul 9: On Friday July 8 morning, authorities of Carmel English Medium High School at Kotekar near Ullal found that thieves had entered the school premises and taken away laptop and set top box pertaining to the closed circuit television cameras. It was also seen that the thieves also had forced themselves into the Akshara Dasoha kitchen of aided Stella Mary's higher primary school located in the compound of the above school with the hope of finding something valuable. They had to return empty-handed as their hopes were shattered.
The thieves broke into Carmel School by breaking the window. They sifted through files inside the school. They also opened different cupboards and scoured them for cash or valuables. Frustrated at not finding anything worthwhile, they stole a laptop found there.
It is gathered that fees payable by students get deposited directly into the bank account, and therefore, no cash was kept in the school office. The thieves then broke the shutter of the Akshara Dasoha room in the adjacent aided Stella Mary's school but their effort failed to fetch any benefit.
The policemen who inspected the scene of crime have reasons to believe that the thieves who searched through files and stole the set top box which has hard disc of the CCTV were educated. Although there were some valuables like mike set inside the school room, the thieves were not interested in stealing them. The thieves went through several files. Moreover, it has been observed that the window that was open had enough gap only for the children to pass through. These things have given rise to a number of doubts.
Finger print experts and sniffer dogs visited the spot and scouted for clues. Ullal police have registered the case and begun investigation.
