Udupi, Jun 22: Newly elected minister Pramod Madhwaraj visited KMC Hospital Manipal, here on Wednesday June 22 to view the condition of the Trasi accident victims.

Speaking to media persons on the tragic accident that occurred at Trasi on the morning of June 21, he said, “It is really unfortunate and painful. Eight innocent kids died in this tragic accident and ten children are undergoing treatment. The condition of two children is critical. It is a really sad matter. I have brought the issue to the notice of the chief minister.”

“I have cancelled all my programmes and appointments to meet the families of the deceased and the injured. I will first visit the morgue to pay my last respects. I have spoken to all the parents who have admitted their children here. I also spoke to DC, SP and the hospital authorities to provide good services to the injured children.”

“I will then move to Hemmady to meet every family of the deceased to share their grief. These days most of the accidents occur on the national highway. It is our duty to follow traffic norms and the public should join hands with the government, district authority and transport department in preventing road mishaps.”

“There is need to have control of vehicle speed. It is impossible for only the RTO and police department to look into this. Thus youth should show interest towards controlling vehicle speed and reducing accidents.”

“I will call a meeting with the road safety committee, shortly to discuss maintenance and precautionary measures. If necessary we will call all the heads of institutions. We will bring all on board, then we will take certain decisions on controlling private vehicles.”

“I have to discuss with the chief minister regarding compensation for the families of the deceased. Youth have social commitments and they have energy towards empowering society. So, as youth minister I will try to make them participate in government planning in the future,” he added.

I agree with KR Prabhu. Not even MLA but others are also in a broad smiling mood. Dear friends observe the situation first then act accordingly.

Admire MLA Madhwaraj's sympathetic actions specially visiting the families and his thoughts on taking steps to prevent such tragic accidents. Human life is valuable People who die or get injured are someone's father, mother, Child. As we sit on our vehicles, let us recommit every time to drive safely. RIP little angels.

All the best for our newly elected MLA.
