Bengaluru, Jun 21: Six persons including four from a single family were killed after a car plowed into a stationery truck on national highway 4 near Kengal Kempuhalli on Monday June 20.
The accident, which occurred at around 6.40 am on Monday took away the lives of Babugowda Siddapur (45), working as driver of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, his wife, Veramma B Siddapur (36), son, Basavanagowda Patil (14), and daughter, Sushmita (9). A neighbour named Nagaratnamma (38) and car driver, Mallappa Siddapur (28), also lost their lives in this accident A boy named Manikanta, who suffered serious injuries, was admitted into the hospital for treatment, police said.
Babugowa Siddapur was returning to the city after taking part in the funeral of his mother at Gurulakatte village at Naragunda, Gadag district, when tragedy struck.
Babugowda had hired a car to visit his native place after learning about the demise of his mother. The family was returning after funeral. The family was accompanied by Nagaratnamma, a neighbour. It is said that the car went out of the control of the driver near Kengal Kempuhalli at Dabaspet, after which it smashed into a truck that had been parked by the roadside, eyewitnesses said.
A case about this incident was registered in Dabaspet police station.
