Youth Congress distributes books, umbrellas to Mahakalipadpu School

Mangaluru, Jun 19: Dakshina Kannada youth Congress distributed books and umbrellas to poor school children under the leadership of Mithun Rai, president of the unit here at Jeppu Mahakalipadpu Government School on Saturday June 18.

Speaking on the occasion, Mithun Rai said, "Congress has always supported students who have wished to pursue education. Education is a must for everyone. The Siddaramaih government has always worked for the poor and underprivileged in society. He has introduced many pro poor schemes like Anna Bhagya, Kshira Bhagya, Vidyasiri so that more and more children can pursue education. It was Veerappa Moily who introduced CET when he was chief minister so that even children from poor families could pursue engineering and medical education." He lauded the efforts of the district youth in helping the poor students and assured them of continued service irrespective of whether their position changes or not.

Corporator Praveen Chandra Alva said, "Youth congress has organised a meaningful programme here. Education is very essential for building a strong nation. This book distribution programme has been conducted every year. You are the future of the nation. Many programmes have been introduced by the Congress government for the betterment of the poor. Congress will always encourage education."

T K Sudhir, director of KSRTC said, "We have been distributing books and umbrellas to children of this school for the past 12 years so that the children will benefit from this. We remember late Bondala Jaganath Shetty our former youth congress president who showed us the path. People who have studied at Kannada medium schools have reached great heights. So do not have an inferiority feeling."
