Udupi, Jun 7: "Maryknoll High school, Barkur will be celebrating its golden jubilee on Saturday June 18 announced," Ashok S Poojary, committee president of the school at a press meet. The announcement was made on Monday June 6.
He explained there will be various competitions, trainings and workshops for the students, teachers, parents and old students for the next six months as part of its golden jubilee.
While describing the achievements of the school he said, "Many of the students who have passed out of the school have brought honour to it by securing prestigious positions in various fields. Sudesh Prabhu secured a rank at state level in the year 1996-97.
In the SSLC examinations held between 2007 and 2015, the high school secured 100% result six times. Four students were selected for NMMS held in the year 2015-16.
The school has secured first place in Brahmavar zone and eleventh place in Udupi district in the SSLC examination for the year 2014-2015.
Mary D’Souza received best teacher award for her dedicated service. Public education department and Adarsha Hospital honoured Ramananda Rao, mathematics teacher for ‘ideal teacher’.
Anand C Kundar, proprietor, Geethanand foundation, Manur Kota will inaugurate the programme. Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest Saint Peter Church Barkur will bless the gathering and Gracy Joseph, secretary, Sisters of Charity Education Society, Mangaluru will preside over the programme.
Closing ceremony of grand celebration will be held on December 7, 2016 .
Shaila D'Souza, president, Barkur gram panchayat, Nagesh Shyanbhag, zonal education officer Brahmavar, B Kasim, chief secretary, Udupi zilla Muslim okkoota will be present at the occasion.
Stany Pius, honorary president, Silvestreena, convenor, Satish Amin, joint secretary, Kishore Gonsalves, oranizing secretary, Ramanand Rao, assistant teacher, Vinet Lewis, treasurer, Shankar Poojary, president, parents teachers union were present at the press meet.
