Udupi, May 29: MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, on Saturday May 28,chaired the pre-monsoon meeting with MESCOM officials at taluk panchayat hall and instructed them to provide proper electricity supply.
“The MESCOM department should worker towards ensuring round the clock electricity supply. Last year, we had lack of staff in MESCOM department but this year we have enough staff, electric poles and transformers in the department.”
“Nearly Rs 82.6 lac worth properties were reportedly damaged in the district. Around 896 poles, 78 transformers and 19.17 km of electric line were damaged.”
MLA Madhwaraj instructed officials to complete restoration work within seven days. Tree branches which hinder electricity supply should be pruned within a week. For this reason the department has purchased three cutting machines.
“Electric sub stations will be installed at Parkala and Udyavar which will reduce the power cuts in the area. A proposal of Rs 86 lac has been sent to minister for energy to improve the system. We need to install AB cable in Kallianpur and Chitpady.”
“The hospital bill of Ramesh Jogi who was injured recently in the rain disaster was paid three days ago. The compensation and medical bill amount for the lineman who passed away will not be delayed. Victim Shashidhar Suvarna from Brahmavar station and his family will get Rs 10 lac as insurance and Rs 18 lac from MESCOM department,” he added.
In Udupi constituency, 187 poles, 29 high tension poles and 14 transformers were damaged.
