Uganda appoints Kenya's Tikolo as cricket coach

Kampala, May 23 (IANS): Former Kenyan cricket captain Steve Tikolo has been confirmed as Uganda's national team chief coach.

Justine Ligyalingi, the chief executive of Uganda Cricket Association, told Xinhua on Monday that they selected Tikolo after considering a number of issues.

He said Tikolo had handled the team before and therefore he was favoured compared to coaches from India, South Africa, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Tikolo was assistant and batting coach between 2012- 2013 when Uganda won the Pepsi T20 African Premier League and qualified for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Division Two.

Tikolo will guide Uganda to the world cricket league division three that starts later this year.
