Silver Bars Worth Rs 60 Lac Stolen

Mumbai, Oct 20: Silver bars weighing 300 kgs and worth Rs 60 lac were stolen from the office of a businessman at Fort on Thursday. The thieves allegedly broke into the office by breaking the latch of the office’s main door.

Interestingly, the burglary took place just 150 metres away from the office of deputy commissioner of Police (Zone-I) Brijesh Singh.

Sunil Babar, senior inspector of the MRA Marg police, said, “The burglary occurred in the office of Ushdev International at New Harileela House in Fort. Vijay Gupta, the chairman and managing director of the company, found the office broken in to on Friday morning. Silver bars kept in 30 rexine bags inside a locked drawer in his cabin were missing.”

According to police, the burglary may be the handiwork of more than two people.

Babar said, “We have registered a case under sections 354, 357 and 380 of the IPC and have detained two employees and a watchman for interrogation."
