New Delhi, March 27 (IANS): Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri on Sunday said his side did not play to its potential in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
In their last game, India were convincingly beaten 0-4 by Iran in Tehran on Thursday.
"We would have definitely wanted more points and there were a few games in which we could not do justice to our potential," Chettri said.
But the Bengaluru FC striker also spoke about the positives and said the Indian team, who have found some new faces in the last few months, is improving fast. Chettri also held up their impressive 1-0 win over Guam last November as an example of their improvement.
"At the same time, there were a few games where I think where we did really well as a team. I think we played our best football against Guam but on the whole, we will have to keep continuing doing so. As we are a young side, hurdles are bound to come but most importantly, we need to keep improving," he said.
