Rio de Janeiro, Mar 24 (IANS): Brazil received a scare ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Uruguay when captain Neymar was taken to hospital with a suspected groin injury.
The Barcelona star, who was taken to hospital on Wednesday, was later released and is expected to take his place in Brazil's starting line-up at Recife's Pernambuco Arena on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.
"Neymar underwent an exam which showed no sign of injury," Brazil's football confederation said in a brief statement.
No further details were given about the injury.
Brazil are currently third in the South American zone's World Cup qualifying standings with seven points from four matches. Ecuador lead with 12 points, three points ahead of second-placed Uruguay.
