Mumbai, Sep 28: In a bid to make their case against dangerous drivers watertight, the Mumbai traffic police have decided to instal 100 cameras across the city to catch the culprits in action. This, they say, will help them present evidence before the court, strengthen their case and ensure that the guilty are jailed.

In fact, about 45 cameras have already been installed at various traffic junctions. Currently, most rash drivers escape with a fine as courts go by the word of the policeman who makes the arrest.

Meanwhile, police may soon get tough with repeat drunken driving offenders. They are planning a comprehensive data bank on dangerous drivers, and repeat offenders risk being jailed for six months.
