Mumbai, Mar 14 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), gained 90.12 points, or 0.36 percent, during the afternoon session on Monday.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading higher by 25.95 points, or 0.35 percent at 7536.15 points.
The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 24,801.70 points, was trading at 24,808.11 points (at 01.15 p.m.) in the afternoon session -- higher 90.12 points, or 0.36 percent from the previous day's close at 24,717.99 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,960.51 points and a low of 24,766.36 points in the trade so far.
Sector-wise, the S&P BSE industrials index gained by 0.96 percent, bankex moved up by 0.83 percent, and auto index inched up by 0.71 percent. However, metal index dropped by 1.93 percent.
