Rio de Janeiro, Mar 8 (IANS): Brazilian football club Atletico Paranaense has announced the hiring of Paulo Autuori as its new head coach following the sacking of Cristovao Borges.
Autuori, 59, has been without a club since leaving Japanese side Cerezo Osaka. His first official match in charge will be on Saturday, against PSTC, in the state championship, Paranaense announced on Monday, reports Xinhua.
This Wednesday, Atletico take on Cruzeiro at the Mineirao, needing just a point to qualify for the next phase of the Liga Sul-Minas-Rio. Autuori will watch from the stands.
Autuori has won two Copa Libertaodres in his career, in 1997 and 2005, with Cruzeiro and Sao Paulo respectively.
He has also won the FIFA Club World Club Cup, also in 2005 with Sao Paulo, as well as one Brazilian league championship, with Rio club Botafogo in 1995.
