Amazon launches 'women only' delivery station

Thiruvananthapuram, March 3 (IANS): Aimed at empowering women and transforming their lives, India's leading online marketplace Amazon India on Thursday announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind 'women only' delivery station.

This initiative was launched with its first delivery station in the capital city.

Through this initiative, Amazon has taken the lead to engage with women, create unique relevant job opportunities and enable them to be achievers in this field.

These dedicated Amazon India women delivery stations will through their service partners be completely managed and run by women.

Women at both these stations will deliver packages on two-wheelers, covering a radius of 2-3 kms from the delivery station.

Samuel Thomas, transportation director, Amazon India, said their vision is to create opportunities for individuals to realize their potential and transform their lives.

"We are proud to have pioneered the women only delivery station which is a first of its kind India specific innovation from Amazon and look forward to help women across communities attain financial independence in life," said Thomas.
