Singapore, Mar 3 (IANS): Malaysian Nicholas Fung on Thursday clinched the year's first honour after being voted as the Asian Tour Golfer of Month for January.
The talented 25-year-old, showed great composure by battling tooth-and-nail to deliver two half points for Team Asia at the EurAsia Cup on home soil in January. Like his opening day Fourball session at the Ryder Cup style event, Fung also thrilled the local galleries with his gutsy performance, winning their praise and admiration.
"Winning the Asian Tour Golfer of the Month is a great start to the season. It's a sign of better things to come and I'm going to work hard to achieve my first win on the Asian Tour," said Fung.
The award is one of the partnership initiatives of Asian Tour with Hilton Worldwide aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.
Fung won the award ahead of compatriot Danny Chia and South Korean Yikeun Chang where the trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.
