Mangaluru, Jan 27: "In the upcoming budget of 2015, the chief minister must extend the facility of boiled egg from few districts to all over the state," urged MLC Ivan Dsouza.
Ivan was speaking to the media in his office here on Wednesday.
He said "More than 50 percent of the children below six years of age in the state are suffering from malnutrition. But in Hyderabad Karnataka where the malnutrition is high, boiled egg has been given from 2012 in the Anganavadis. I urge the chief minister to extend this facility to primary school children all over the state."
Areca Board
Speaking about the establishment of Areca board he said "Areca is being grown in 18 districts of the state and Karnataka is the second largest areca producing state in the country. The economy of the state is also dependent on the areca prices. The areca planters face the problem of unstabilized areca prices. Establishment of areca board in the state might solve the issue. Even though the state government has agreed to my suggestion for the establishment of the board, it is the union government which has to take the action. Hence I urge the union government to do so,"
Separate corporation or authority for the Christians
He later on said that since the Christian development council is under the minorities commission, Rs 130 crore allotted for the community is not being utilized due to strict rules. If an independent corporation,or an authority, similar to the ones in Kerala and Tamilnadu, is instituted, it will be helpful for the Christians to utilize the grants for the needs of the community. Hence I urge the chief minister to announce the corporation in the upcoming budget."
Corporator Shashidhar Hegde, ZP member Malwyn D'souza, Mangaluru south block congress president Nagendra K were present.
