Udupi, Jan 27: The Indian Ports team won the KRCA CPL cricket trophy by defeating Unysis team of Bengaluru with the margin of 56 runs in the final match held at Manipal University Cricket Ground.
The winner won the cash prize of Rs 1 lac and Runners up received the trophy with Rs 50,000.00 cash prize.
This is the 4th edition of the corporate premier league tournament organized by commerce department of Manipal university in association with Karnataka regional cricket academy, Kapu. Teams from Titan, Helwart Packard, Infosys, HP etc took part in the tournament.
In the semi finals Indian Ports team defeated Helward Packard team of Bengaluru by 5 wickets and Unysis team defeated Titan team by 5 wickets and entered into the finals.
In the final match while batting first, Indian Ports bundled out 119 in 17.2 overs. Dheeraj scored 44 runs and Hemal Vatekar scored 20. Keerthi captain of Unisys secured 5 wickets by conceding only 8 runs.
In reply The batsman’s of team Unysis failed to score to the brilliant bowling spell of Yogesh who secured 5 wickets by conceding 13 runs and bundled out for 63 runs. Harish scored 19 and Santhosh scored 14 runs.
Hemal Vatekar the captain of Indian Ports and also a Ranji player of Andra Pradesh secured Man of the Series Award. Harish of Unysis was adjudged as best batsman and Keerthi of Unysis team received the Best bowler award.
Annamalai, SP of Udupi district distributed the prizes. Imtiaz of KRCA, Ganesh Shetty, Industrialist, Dr Krishnaprasad, President of UDCA, Balakrishna Parkala, Co-ordinator, KSCA, Ranjith Salian,
President BJP Yuva Morcha, Ex- first class cricketer Prakash Karkera, Charan Bhandary, Owner of Bedra Bulls, Shridhar, Physical Director, Dr Raviraj, Senet Member of Rajiv Gandhi University, Ren Clever Dias and Guruprasad Organizing Committee Members were present.
