Udupi, Jan 19: A case has been registered in Kota police station in connection with alleged sexual harassment of a girl when she was alone at her home. The incident reportedly occurred at Halladi Yettinattu near Saiberkatte in the taluk.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh alias Raka, working as secretary in a milk producers cooperative society at Yettinattu village.
It is said that Rakesh, who has been working in the said society since long, has been involved with some illegal activities there. When he went on door-to-door visit with some friends to distribute invitations for centenary celebrations of school and at the same time, seek donations from the people, he came across a house where the girl in question was alone. Reportedly, the girl gave Rs 250 as donation and sent the group of people including Rakesh away. Rakesh however came back sometime later and sexually harassed the girl, it is said. However, when the girl shouted for help, he ran away. After her parents came home in the evening, the girl narrated to them what had happened, after which a police complaint was filed.
Kota police sub-inspector, Kabbal Raj, has registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused reportedly has gone missing and policemen are making efforts to trace him.
