Kasargod, Jan 12: Badiadka station police, on Monday, January 11, arrested an accused wanted in more than 13 thefts including the one at a Mobile shop in Badiadka market where items worth Rs 2.5 lac were stolen.
The arrested accused has been identified as Jubair (27), resident of Chennadka.
Several cases have come to light after he was questioned regarding the theft of Rs 2.5 lacs worth items at Badiadka mobile shop.
He is said to be the accused in several cases of thefts registered in the police stations of Kasargod, Vidyanagara, Badiadka, Bekala and Dakshina Kannada district.
Police are on look out for two of his accomplices. One of them is a resident of Karnataka and the other a resident of Badiadka.
Police have also recovered an iron rod and two mobiles from the accused.
He had reportedly entered a mobile shop of Rathish situated at Badiadka junction after opening the shutter with an iron road on January 1, 2016 and decamped with 15 new mobiles, 15 old mobiles, recharge coupons and Rs 500 cash.
Five cases are pending against him in Kasargod. He is also an accused in five theft cases in Karnataka including theft in a petrol pump and jewellery shop.
It is learnt that he had entered a house at Badiadka Permukha three months ago and stolen nine sovereign gold and Rs 6,000 cash. He had stolen one kg gold and silver from Perla Navya jewellery, ten sovereign gold from a house at Nellikunje and a mobile, Rs three thousands from a house at Baradka, snatched a one and half sovereign gold chain from the neck of a woman after coming in a bike at Uliathadka, 2.5 sovereign gold chain from the neck of a woman at Vidyanagara, a 1.5 sovereign gold chain from the neck of a female student at Iriyanni and fled.
The finger prints obtained at Badiadka Mobile shop helped the police to arrest the accused.
