Udupi, Jan 10: “Several development projects are approved with regard to upgrading beautiful Kaup beach of the coastal region as the tourist spot of international standards. Funds are being collected from all sources and the beach will be improved in stages”, said minister of urban development Vinay Kumar Sorake.
The minister was speaking after laying foundation stone for the development works of Kaup beach at a cost of Rs 87.69 lacs under the Karnataka coastal tourism all round development project on Friday January 8.
“Seating arrangement, construction of walk way, high mast lighting, construction of life guard tower, solid waste disposal unit, unit to maintain cleanliness, sign boards for water bikes and others are planned in order to upgrade the beach,” he said.
“The works are set in motion today. Rs 90 lacs are released for widening of the road. Similarly an amount of Rs 1.40 crore is reserved for development of Padubidri beach and Rs 75 lacs are earmarked for the development of beach road,” he added.
Coastal Tourism development president Manohar Shetty Kaup presided over the programme. Kaup municipality official Mable D' Souza, Tourism development division official Siddaramappa, Kaup block congress president Navinchandra J Shetty, Udupi zilla panchayat former president Sarasu D Bangera, Kaup grama panchayat former president Vikram Kaup, Kaup Billavara cooperative society president Madhava R Palan, Kaup Mogaveera Women's association president Yashodha Ameen, Kaup fishermens cooperative society president Prashanth Karkera, Congress local committee president Nagesh Suvarna were present as guests of honour.
Kaup C A Bank president Kaup Diwaker welcomed. Coastal tourism development executive Yathish Karkera Baikampady proposed vote of thanks.
