Mangaluru, Dec 7: Arasu friends association, an association with a noble motive of social service, distributed the bank acknowledgement letters of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana" (accident insurance) to more than 150 beneficiaries in a programme held at Dakshina Kannada Zila Panchayat higher primary school on Sunday, December 6.
Paediatrics surgeon of K S Hegde hospital Dr Sumanth Shetty inaugurated the programme.
A medical camp was also organised by the association.
Dr Sumanth in his inaugural address appreciated the work of the association in responding to the needy. He said "I have come here for the same purpose two years ago. The members of the Arasu Friends Association have organized this camp in a very systematic way. I wish them good luck."
Another guest of the programme Dr Amith Kiran gave the call to get the best out of the medical camp. "It is a very good initiative by the association. One can avail the benefits of health check up along with insurance benefits. I call upon all the present to get the most out of the camp." he said.
The president of the association Praveen Chandra Rai explained the benefits of health insurance and accident insurance through an example.
The guests distributed the bank acknowledgement letters of 'Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana' (accident insurance) to two beneficiaries in the programme symbolically.
Uday Chandra Rai welcomed the gathering while Santhosh Kumar rendered vote of thanks. Preetham Nayak compered the program.
Honourary president of the programme Naveen Chandra Rai, Vice president Naveen Kumar, lady vice president Divya Ratan, treasurer Ganesh Shetty, secretary Santhosh Kumar Shetty were present on the dais.
Health check-up initiatives like Echo Cardiogram test and blood test were also done in the free camp. A 'Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana' (accident insurance) registration drive was also organised by the association on November 22.
