Kundapur, Dec 6: “Education is a special gift that lights the way for people. It leads them towards abundance in life”, opined Manipal Academy of General Education president Dr H S Ballal. He was speaking after inaugurating renovated R N Shetty auditorium on the occasion of Bhandarkar’s College founder’s day on December 5.
“We should fulfill the dreams of founders of the college with development programmes and providing excellent education”, he said.
Minister of youth and fisheries, Abhayachandra Jain who had arrived as the Chief guest of the programme, speaking on the occasion said that it is our duty to be grateful to the founders of the college who started the educational institutes when education was a distant dream.
"The founders made the dream of educating people and getting them employed a reality. Present day students should implement their aspirations in their lives. They should be helpful to others and strive for the development of educational institutes", he said.
Manipal Academy of General Education management official Dr H Shantaram who presided over the programme, said that the hopes and principles of the founders should be implemented in our lives.
College management committee member Sadananda Chatra on behalf of trustees, head of the department of Maths, Professor Narayana Tanthri on behalf of lecturers and third year B A student Amratha on behalf of students commemorated the founders.
Talented students who secured more than 90% marks were honored by handing over cash incentives. Winners of inter college music competition on the occasion of founders day were presented prizes.
Alvas College, Moodbidri won Dr A S Bhandarkar rolling shield.
College trustees Devadas Kamath, K Shantaram Prabhu, Rajendra Tholar, Management committee member Prajnesh Prabhu and Prakash Soans were present.
Bhandarkar Degree College principal Dr N P Narayana Shetty welcomed. Bhandarkar Pre University College principal G M Gonda proposed Vote of thanks. Commerce department Professor Arunachala Mayya compered the programme.
