Moodbidri, Dec 5: On Wednesday night, a man had attacked his own mother in an inebriated condition. Angered by his behaviour, the man's younger brother had murdered him at the family's home at Padumarnadu. The accused stands arrested on Friday December 4.

Sadashiva (30) from Guttabettu in Padumarnadu had become habitual drunkard. He used to get drunk before reaching home in the evening, and thereafter kept harassing his family members. It is said that on Wednesday night, he picked up fight with his mother, Koosu, and in a drunken state, even kicked her. Mohan, younger brother of Sadashiva, got livid at this behaviour, and attacked Sadashiva with a sickle and stick, it is gathered. It is said that Sadashiva collapsed to the floor and breathed his last within a few minutes thereof.

Reportedly, the family tried to hush up the matter and even continued to keep the mortal remains of the deceased the entire night inside. But the issue somehow became public on Thursday through neighbours. Policemen visited the family on Thursday afternoon, and arrested murder-accused Mohan on Friday.

A case stands registered against Mohan in the local police station. On being produced in the court, he was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
