London, Dec 4 (IANS): West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho will be sidelined just over eight weeks after confirming the extent of the injury the Senegalese international footballer suffered in Sunday's 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League (EPL).
"We are going to be without him for a few games definitely," West Ham coach Slaven Bilic said, as quoted by the club's official website.
The African striker, 25, had to leave the field at the 17th minute of the match after suffering a puncture in the thigh, reports Efe.
"We are still waiting for the results on Diafra Sakho's scan, but it's not good. It's a muscle injury, not dangerous for long-term or whatever, but it's not a light one unfortunately," said Croatian Bilic.
Sakho, one of the most outstanding players in West Ham United, has played in all games this season, where he has scored five goals and helping his team to reach the eighth position of the EPL standings with 22 points.
