Udupi, Nov 29: ‘Udyoga mela–2015’ organized by Karnataka Karmikara Vedike (KKV), Udupi district unit was inaugurated by H B Nagesh at MGM College ground, near Kunjibettu on Sunday November 29.
Meanwhile Karnataka Rajyotsava and state level ‘Labour Awareness Convention’ was also held at the same ground.
Addressing the gathering, president, Janardhan Thonse, town planning authority, said, “People have lack of information about their rights and duties. There is a need to create aware about it. Labourers and farmers exploitation need to be stopped. Labourers and owners are the two faces of the same coin”.
In his inaugural address, founder president, H B Nagesh said, “Whatever we do, it should be guidelines to others. I have found this Vedike with my hard work. I respect Kannada Nadu and will work for it”.
Karnataka Karmikara Vedike will complete three years in the state this year.
Ravi Shetty,president of Karnataka Karmikara Vedike, Udupi unit said, “The organization intends to eliminate the problems of farmers and labourers. They will work towards achieving equality between labourers and owners. Without the labourers, there is no progress in industry”.
“The convention is being organized to create awareness about exploitation of labourers and women. We are focusing on cleanliness and education of people on law and order. We will work hard on providing free shelter for poor people”, he added.
On the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, the Karnataka Karmikara Vedike awarded many achievers of different fields.
The Rajyotsava awardees were Shivanna Ambale (Veeragase and Artist), Sripathy Hegde Hakladi Kundapur (senior journalist), Radha Udupi (retired teacher), Veeranna Kurvatthi Gowdar, Haveri (poet), Sandashiva Shetty Shivmuga (farmer), Gururaj Sanil, Santhekatte (snake specialist).
The special awardees were Suri Shetty , Ravi Katpady, Nithyanand Olakadu, Udyakumar Shetty Kediyoor, Nilavar Surendra Adiga (Kannada Kattala), Udayakumar Shetty Inna (Udyamasheela), Gopalshetty Bangalore (Karmika Bandhu) and Raghavendra Rao Bangaluru (Karmika Kanmani).
A bike rally was organized from clock tower Udupi to MGM Ground prior to the convention.
Valedictory programme, state level Rajyotsava awards and felicitation programmes were held at 4.30 pm. The release of an ambulance also took place on the occasion.
K Suresh Sherigar, Chandrika Shetty, president, Women’s unit, Ravi Shastri Bannanje, Praveen Hiriyadka and others were present.
