Udupi, Nov 23: All India Konkani Writer’s association (Akil Bharatiya Konkani Lekakancho Ekthar), Konkani Sanghaton, Udupi district and Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh organized a-half-day long workshop on ‘Interview with the Konkani Litterateur’ at Milagres College Audio Visual Hall, Kallianpur on Sunday, November 22.
The workshop was inaugurated by Fr Stany B Lobo, rector, Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpura by lighting the lamp.
In his inaugural speech, he congratulated all three associations for this joint venture and said, “Media is a powerful source of communication where one can attract people from all corners, creating a greater impact on masses. Today all of us have gathered to learn and understand how an individual can be part of the media and how one can contribute to it equally through Konkani. Let’s all build up a strong Konkani society.”
Fr Chetan, editor-in-chief, Uzwad, Udupi diocesan fortnightly, said “One keeps on learning a lot but yet fails to put forward the learning or enlighten others. In every one of us, there is a worm which urges us to learn constantly. We must learn to feed the worm so that our curiosity in learning new things should rise and also be satisfied. For this everyone should put little efforts to receive the desired outcome”.
He further said, “It’s my dream that Konkani should be sustained and for this, there is a requirement that the youth should be involved in such workshops where they can be guided at the tender age to create ample passion about the Konkani literature.”
Dr Edward Nazareth, prolific Konkani writer, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Fr Muller’s Hospital, Mangalore, Dolfy Cassia, eminent Konkani writer, Mangalore, Nery Cornelio, principal, Milagres College, Kallianpura, Valerian Fernandes, president, Catholic Sabha, Alice Rodrigues, secretary, Catholic Sabha, Katharine Rodrigues, Konkani Writer, Dr Gerald Pinto, president, Konkani association, Udupi district, Louis Almeida, Konkani writer were present for the inaugural session.
Dr Edward Nazareth welcomed the dignitaries. Louis Almieda proposed the vote of thanks and Godfrey D’souza compered the inaugural session.
The inaugural session was followed by the training programme where Dr Edward gave an insight on how to write short stories, while Dolfy Cassia spoke about dialogues in the literature. Katharine Rodrigues delivered a talk on Konkani Literature on the occasion.
The audience had a very fruitful interaction with these eminent Konkani litterateur.
Vincent Alva, Konkani Writer and Lecturer, Milagres College, Kallianpura compered the training session.
All India Konkani Writers Association is just one and half year old association where the Konkani writers from Karnataka, Goa, Kerala and Maharashtra come together and work for the betterment of Konkani Literature.
