Mangaluru: 'Bhurgyalin Maza' concludes successfully

Mangaluru, Nov 11: The 'Bhurgyalin Maza' children's programme held by Konkani Prachar Sanchalan jointly under the aegis of Konkani Academy and Mandd Sobhann on November 11 concluded successfully. 403 students from 11 primary schools and 9 high schools participated in the competitions.







































The programme was inaugurated in a unique way by lowering a swing by Swroopa Adhyayana Kendra director Gopadkar. He said that instead of making students slaves of marks, it is necessary to increase the capacity of listening, grasping and understanding among them.

The students showcased their talents in story telling, oration, dance, short play, performance etc. Konkani Academy president Roy Castelino participated as the chief guest of the concluding ceremony. He said that the programme is held to promote the future and increase the love of Konkani. He called upon students to study Konkani in schools and strengthen the language.

Mandd Sobhann president Louis Pinto and Gurkar Eric Ozario were on the dais. Konkani Prachar Sanchalan president Lawrence D'Souza welcomed the gathering. Secretary James D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Briston Miranda and Reena D'Souza compered the programme.

Later, the schools which performed well in the competitions were honored on the occasion.

Results of the competitions are as follows:

High School Division

First prize: Mary Hill High School, Kinnigoli

Second prize: Sacred Heart High School, Kulshekar

Third prize: Lourdes Central School, Bejai

Higher Primary School Division

First Prize: Lourdes Central School, Bejai

Second prize: St Louis Gonzaga, Kodialbail

Third prize: St Joseph Kannada Medium school, Kulshekar
