Bengaluru, Oct 23: Archbishop Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras has presented a set of print and media productions of the Archdiocese of Bangalore to His Excellency Most Rev Dr Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, during his recent visit to Mandya for the Episcopal Ordination of the new Bishop Fr Antony Kariyil of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Mandya.
Fr Antony Kariyil, a former Superior General of the Carmelite of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation, was appointed as the second bishop of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Mandya, to succeed the first bishop of Mandya Mar George Njaralakatt, who was transferred as the Archbishop of Thalassery last year.
Archbishop Moras, who met the Envoy of Pope Francis to India and Nepal, presented the set of publications of the Archdiocese as also those of the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC).
The Archbishop Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras, who is also the President of the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC), presented to His Excellency the new edition of the “Pavithra Bible” (The Holy Bible in Kannada) which was printed by the KRCBC.
The Nuncio was very happy to receive the copy and appreciated the initiative taken by the KRCBC in reaching out the word of God to every nook and corner of the State of Karnataka.
The Archbishop also presented the new and colourful edition of the Archdiocesan Directory 2015-16, the copies of the Archdiocesan monthly magazines: Tabor Vani (Kannada) and The Tabor Kirana (English).
The Archbishop briefed the Nuncio on the whole theme of this year’s Directory flows from the recent Encyclical of Pope Francis, ``Laudato Si’’ (Praised be to you). which emphasizes on the care of our mother earth. His Excellency was very happy and congratulated the whole team for taking efforts every year to update the Archdiocesan Directory effectively and also for responding positively to the concern of the Church.
On behalf of the Claretian Publications, the Archbishop gifted the Book: ’40 Days of Pilgrimage with Pope Francis’ on the care of our common home, which is the brief summary of the Encyclical “Laudato Si” along with the beautiful prayers.
The Archdiocese is always unique, creative and pioneer in its approach to the pastoral and liturgical needs of the faithful.
“It is wonderful” was the reply of the Apostolic Nuncio after receiving the ‘Hosanna’, the Sunday Liturgy leaflets which is printed in three Languages, namely Kannada, Tamil and English. These leaflets are very useful for the Clergy, Religious and the People of God. It helps everyone to actively participate in the Sunday Liturgy and also to meaningfully celebrate the Holy Eucharist.
The latest version of the Pastoral Handbook is a handy guide for the pastors and the church administrative staff in the Archdiocese. It is indeed a masterpiece that is welcomed and greatly appreciated by all! Seeing the Pastoral Handbook, His Excellency commended the hard work put in by the Archbishop and his collaborators in bringing out this great work.
The Nuncio was also impressed to see all these media activities of the Archdiocese and said that the Archdiocese of Bangalore stands as a model for other Dioceses in the country.
His Excellency Most Rev Dr Salvatore Pennacchio imparted his apostolic blessings upon the priests, religious and the lay faithful of the Archdiocese and upon all the people of Karnataka.
