Mangaluru, Oct 17: The long-awaited new building of Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial Besant Institute of Postgraduate Studies will be inaugurated on Tuesday October 20 at Bondel here. Padma Vibhushan Dr Y V Reddy, former governor of Reserve Bank of India and chairman of 14th Finance Commission will inaugurate the building.
This was announced at a press meet organized by the college management on Saturday October 17 at MSNM Besant Institute, Bondel.
Addressing the media, Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, president of Women's National Education Society, Mangaluru said, "The institute is now developing as a leading center for professional management education, research and consultancy services in this part of the country. It has an exclusive IT lab enabled by TATAs, a digital library providing access to international books and journals, Wi-Fi enabled campus and hostels for boys and girls. A state-of-the-art building for the institute has been established recently, on its exclusive 3.5 acre campus in Bondel, which is now ready for inauguration.
"Dr Y V Reddy will inaugurate the building at 4.35 pm and deliver his address. A Yaksha Rupaka from the renowned Yakshagana artiste Subrahmanya Dhareshwar and party will be presented as part of the cultural programme at 6.30 pm," he added.
Dr Narayan Kayarkatte, director of MSNM Besant Institute od PG Studies, Mangaluru briefed the press about the future plans for the institute. "We have plans of making it an autonomous institute, offering a few distinct and special programs in management, tying up with leading institutes for academic excellence and with industries for internships and placements and going for international accreditations and strategic alliances."
Secretary Shyamsunder Kamath briefed about the history of the institution.
Manel Annappa Nayak, industrialist and educationist, Mangaluru and member of the governing council of MSNM Besant Institution and others were present on this occasion.
