Honda two-wheeler's market share grows to 26 percent in April-June


New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS): Two-wheeler company Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Thursday said its overall market share in the country grew by two percent to touch 26 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal.

Citing data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, it said its market share in Goa, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh has zoomed over 50 percent, it crossed the 40 percent mark in Maharashtra and Gujarat and was well above 30 percent in Delhi, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

"Our strategy to launch many new models in both scooter and motorcycle segments, network expansion in smaller towns, increased flexibility in production mix to meet demand and top of mind brand recall brand has been well accepted in the market," company's president and CEO, Keita Muramatsu said in a statement.

He said in the first quarter of 2015-16, the company grew five times faster than the industry.
