Mangaluru, Oct 10: "Preparations for ‘Mangalore Dasara 2015’ (Navaratri) organized by the century old Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli are in full swing. The celebrations will be held from October 13 to October 23," said Harikrishna Bantwal, member of Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple Development Committee. He addressed a press meet at the temple auditorium here on Saturday October 10.
He further added, "Installation (pratisthapana) of the idols of Sharada and Nava Durga simultaneously will take place on October 13 at 11 am at Swarna Kalamantapa along with religious rituals. Police commissioner of Mangaluru, S Murugan will be present as guest. At 6.30 pm the same day CEO of Karnataka Bank Jayaram Bhat will inaugurate the cultural programme. Horekanike programme will be held at Nehru Maidaan at 4 pm on October 14. All the people participating in horekanike are requested to assemble at Nehru Maidaan at 3 pm.
"Brahmahakalashotsava will held on October 16 and special prayers for rain will be offered due to poor rains this year. Chandika Yagha will be held on October 21 and Maha Anna Santharpana programme will be held on October 22. Cultural programmes by renowned artistes will be held at Santhoshi Kalamantapa at 6.00 pm everyday. Dasara Shobha Yathra will be held on October 23 from 4 pm onwards. The procession will pass through the well decorated and colourfully lit main streets of the city for a distance of about 6 km."
"We are expecting a huge number of people to visit the city for the Mangaluru Dasara. We request the public not to burst crackers during the procession or else action will be taken by the police and the temple cannot be held responsible. The tableau must not be stopped, but should keep moving. We are expecting about 65-70 tableaux to take part. We urge support and cooperation of the public in making this Mangaluru Dasara a historic event."
H S Sairam, president, Kudroli Temple, temple managing committee members Raghavendra Kulur, Padmaraj R, B K Tharanath, K Maheshchandra, B Devendra Poojary, Leelaksha Karkera, Ravishankar Mijar and others were present at the meet.
