Mangaluru, Oct 9: A cooking gas cylinder in a house at Palke, Subhashnagar, caught fire on the afternoon of Thursday October 8. Mohammed, the owner of the house, was preparing tea for labourers who were doing some work in his house.

He lit the gas stove and ran out when a fire was seen in the regulator and pipe. It spread to the sofa, fridge, and other items in the house. The fire was extinguished with water.

A major mishap was averted as Mohammed’s wife Ayesha Bibi and nine-month-old infant Fathimat Mufeera had gone out for a wedding. The loss is estimated to be around Rs 20,000.
