Chennai, Oct 1 (IANS): The release of superstar Vijay's Tamil fantasy drama "Puli" on Thursday seems unlikely as theatres in Tamil Nadu and overseas have cancelled a few shows for reasons still unclear.
Popular theatre chain AGS Cinemas here confirmed via a Facebook post that the early morning shows of the film on Thursday stands cancelled.
"Due to unavoidable circumstances the morning shows of 'Puli' on October 1 have been cancelled," read the post.
A few other theatres in the city have also cancelled morning shows that were planned as early as 4 a.m.
According to an industry source, the makers of "Puli" were yet to get clearance from Qube, the company that streams movies digitally.
"Rumour has it that producers of 'Puli' are yet to clear dues to Qube. As soon as it's settled, theatres are expected to get the green signal to screen the movie," the source told IANS.
The overseas premiere of the film has also been cancelled.
The release of the film in its dubbed Hindi and Telugu versions also remain doubtful.
Directed by Chimbu Deven, the film also stars Sridevi, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani in important roles.
