New Delhi, Oct 1: The Kuruba community of Karnataka will be joining their other counterparts in different States known under different names to form a pan India outfit under the name of Shepherds India International.
The new outfit, Shepherds India International, will be launched on Gandhi Jayanti Day in New Delhi.
It may be known that the Karnataka’s backward class community of Kurubas or shepherds are generally engaged in sheep rearing activities.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his close confidant H M Revanna, a Congress MLC and former minister, are the prominent Kuruba leaders along with senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa.
A preliminary meeting of the key leaders of the new outfit, Shepherds India International, was held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Gazariya, Gaddi, Darawara, Dharawad, Dhanakar, Pal, Bageri, Raykar and Kurubas are the different names of the community, who are mostly concentrated in the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Prades, Haryana and New Delhi. The total population of the community in different States is around 12 crore.
Apart from M H Revanna and V Rajanna, ex-BBMP Corporator, from Karantaka, Veerabhadraiah G, advocate, SagarRaykar, ex-MP Gujarat, RamaraoWadkute, MLC Maharashtra, Suraj Hegde, AICC Secretary, Dr D K Pal, S D Jogin and Ganesh Pal were among the key leaders who attended the meeting.
