Mangaluru, Sep 29: The much awaited youth get together programme 'Sangatha 2015' was jointly organized by Yuva Spandan Derebail (YSD) and Young Catholic Students (YCS) on September 27.
The programme started at 9.00 am with registration and breakfast. The programme was inaugurated by the assistant parish priest Fr Anil Lobo, vice president Anil Patrao, YSD animator Lizzy Fernandes, YCS animator Loretta Anthony and YSD president Sheldon Alvares. Denora led the youth into a divine mood of prayer with a prayer song.
Anil Patrao in his inaugural speech called the youth to give importance to our mother tongue Konkani and to enrich it with our talents. Parish priest Fr Joseph Lobo urged the youth to take part in all church activities and to serve the church with their efforts and support. He quoted youth as 'youth are the pillar of the church'.
In the ice breaking session the youth were asked to introduce themselves to each other. The youth were divided into 8 groups (A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H) and the recreational session began with an action song sung by YSD/YCS. The youth were judged based on their performance. Next, the spot games began with a lot of enthusiasm from the youth.
Eugene D’Cunha the guest for the day enlightened the youth with his talk on 'Friendship and love'. The message he conveyed to the youth was 'Know who you are and focus on your goal'. At 12.00 pm Fr Anil Lobo conducted mass in which the liturgy and choir was handled by Maizy and team.
The afternoon session consisting of some spot games organized by the members of ICYM City Varado team started at 2.00 pm. The youth actively participated in the entire programme. Each group was judged based on their performance. Overall it was a wonderful session where the youth interacted very well.
At the end of the session feedback was collected and prizes were distributed by YCS animator Michael, to the winners. YSD president Sheldon Alvares delivered the vote of thanks.
The curtains were drawn down with a baila number where the youth whole heartedly danced and were left panting.
A total of 120 youth of Derebail parish were present at the program.
